Dock · power budget
Does the dock supply cover host and peripherals?
Add the delivered host target, dock electronics reserve, and explicit downstream device budgets. No generic allocation or proportional split is invented.
Declared simultaneous budget
Use explicit budgets, not device stereotypes
Microsoft’s docking guidance demonstrates the correct structure: the supply must cover host delivery plus each downstream allocation and dock needs. Actual products may reserve power, cap groups of ports, or reduce host charging when peripherals draw more.
Copy the manufacturer’s simultaneous limits. If the listing only says “130 W adapter” and “up to 100 W PD,” it has not yet established how much remains for every downstream port.
