What a browser can—and cannot—decode

USB-C describes the connector. Cable assemblies may support only USB 2.0 data, high-speed USB, USB4, a 3 A or 5 A current path, and different active or passive limits. USB-C video adapter cables add protocol-conversion limits and are not interchangeable with full-featured C-to-C cables.

Best available evidence

  1. A matching USB-IF certified performance/power marking and public product record.
  2. An e-marker reading from trusted operating-system telemetry or a capable hardware tester.
  3. Complete manufacturer specifications for the exact model, length, direction, and adapter modes.
  4. A controlled transfer, charging, or direct-display test.
