Charging chain checker

Find the weakest link in a USB-C charging setup.

Compare declared device demand, charger output, cable power, and protocol requirements. Use it before buying a replacement or when “100 W” is not charging like 100 W.

How to use the result

The smallest declared power capability is the electrical ceiling. It is not a promise of live charging power. USB Power Delivery negotiation selects a mutually supported profile, while the device controls what it draws.

Before you enter a wattage

  • Use the output for the exact charger port and active port combination, not only the large total printed on the charger.
  • For more than 60 W, confirm a 5 A electronically marked cable. Current certified cable branding uses 60 W or 240 W markings.
  • For phones, distinguish standard PD, PPS, and proprietary fast charging. A high cable rating cannot add a missing protocol.
Safety: wattage compatibility is not a product safety certification. Stop using visibly damaged, wet, unusually hot, or counterfeit equipment.
